Our Mission
The mission of every church should be the one from Jesus in Matt 28:19,20 and Acts 1:8 which says, to make disciples, starting in Jerusalem, then moving out to Judea, Samaria and the World.
Our Mission statement , based on those Scriptures, communicates how we intend to make disciples of our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the world. Our mission is,
“To inspire people to follow Jesus, by embracing them to know, encouraging them to grow and equipping them to go”.
We’ve chosen to adopt the Simple Church method for this process which means we’ll choose to adopt few, but effective methods for each of these steps and do them well.
First, for those who aren’t following Jesus, we embrace them so that they might know and start following Jesus. We do this through advertising, relationships and our Sunday morning service.
Second, for those who are following Jesus, we encourage them to grow in that relationship through small groups, our Sunday morning service, and instructing and training them how to help themselves grow.
And third, for those who are growing as they follow Jesus, we equip them to go. This means we help them help others grow by helping them discover what God has called them to as far as service and ministry. We do this through spiritual gift tests, surveys, and training.
Our mission also extends beyond Hayfield. God wants to use Cedar Creek more and more to further his kingdom globally. We will continue to promote and support missions beyond Hayfield and consider expanding our global impact as God leads, so that people all around the world will be inspired to follow Jesus.
Following Jesus is a process. As people move from not knowing Jesus, to growing in Jesus to serving Jesus, transformation takes place. For a word picture, think of the creek in our name and logo. Then imagine a person floating down that creek, from upstream, to midstream, to downstream. That movement downstream represents the changes we hope to see in people’s lives as they’re inspired to follow Jesus!
